My first child, a girl (Gabrielle Elise) is expected on April 20th 2010 and I started a new job at the end of the year after being laid off from the company I'd worked for for the last five years. I now work for a company called Perficient. Ho hum, guess it's just been another boring year :]
Artie's Place has received its first update in over two years, by way of a large content update to the links page. I've added the websites of many more friends of mine, removed a few obsolete sites, updated a few articles. If you'd like your site added to this page, just shoot me an e-mail.
In other news, artiesplace.net has its own Ventrilo server running. Please contact me if you have any interest in using it.
In yet other news, I've recently found Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2 to be fun wastes of my time. Feel free to add artie@artiesplace.net to your Steam friends list if you are into that sort of thing.

Amazon has done something I've been waiting for a long time...created a DRM-free MP3 store. All I can is that it's about danged time. My personal favorite genre is Christian rap, and I must say their collection was very impressive...resulting in my dropping of about $30 on music today =]
Along those lines, I discovered Rob Hodge, who has some very excellent stuff.

A failed attempt at a remote Edgy upgrade has resulted in a catastrophic rebuild of the server. As such, the CS server has been taken down indefinitely. I am, however, toying around with the idea of a HL2DM or CS:S server, but probably won't bother with stat pages again. It was a fun experiment though!

The lag issues that were plaguing my ISP (and thus the CS server) seem to have been fixed. Artie's Place is open for business =]

My ISP is being gracious enough to give me a major boost in bandwidth later this month, so I will be able to sport a 16-20 player CS server. As such, I will make this server public, and in preparation for this have loaded up PsychoStats. Everything is tested, and in working order, we just need to start fragging to get the stats in place. You can view the stat pages here.

I believe my friend Aaron best described the author of this piece of genius as "schizophrenic."

Artie's Place is back open for business! I had a hard drive go down on me a few weeks ago, and I just recovered my data off of the drive. In related news, a friend of mine introduced me to a handy disk recovery tool called dd_rescue. The CS & DOD servers are back up on ports 27016 & 27017, respectively. However, I have also created a *public* HL:DM server running on the default 27015 port, 24/7 Crossfire. Enjoy! As a quick reference, to get to my servers, go to "Favorites" and click "Add by IP Address". Servers are as follows:6/29/06
The Artie's Place PvPGN server is now up and running. You will need the Battle.net Gateway Editor in order to have the server show up in your Battle.net servers list. Run the editor, and under the Starcraft tab, click "Add Server." Use the following parameters: Name: Artie's Place3/27/06
Bill tipped me off to a very interesting port project for Descent 1 & 2: D2X-XL.In other news, the Sluka Boys CS 1.6 server is up and running in full swing, tricked out with AMX Mod X and a few nifty plugins. The IP is simply artiesplace.net, contact me for the password if you don't already have it. Unfortunately I've found my limit is 8 due to bandwidth, but 8 is enough =]
In other other news, Artie's Place is now brought to you by Apache 2.2!

I have decided to take the "Numa Numa" dance (myhero.swf) down again, but fear not: I have found a forum post explaining not only the whole history, but a link where the actual guy in the video posted the video along with subtitles =]8/13/05
The famed "myhero.swf", formerly found here, seems to have been taken down (probably because he got sued by the kid's parents). Anyway, I managed to get my hands on a copy of this and it is now available for your viewing pleasure here.8/3/05
Artie's Place has been gone a long time, but my ventures into the open source & web development worlds have made me decide to bring it back. One of the major motiviations was the discovery of EveryDNS, an outfit which allowed me to host my website on Linux PC who gets its IP dynamically.
